Below are examples of full services, including my service notes, orders of services, and, as available, recordings. The November 13, 2022 service represents our 'standard' format. The other services are examples of alternative formats we have experimented with over the years. The April and May 2022 services reflect an intentional effort to be multiplatform as so many were still seeking to attend services online. While many of our services follow the 'standard' format, I find that varying the format can be effective to underscore particular content and/or to highlight multiple voices.
"We The People" - November 13, 2022 Following the 2022 Midterm elections, the service responds to the ongoing political polarization in our nation
“The Opposite of Spiritual” - May 15, 2022 From ancient spiritual practices to modern mindfulness, the idea of spirituality abounds. This service explores multiple ways to engage in spirituality. Three congregants offered reflections about their own spiritual practices (no text available unfortunately).
“Making a Way” - March 17, 2019 In recognition of Black History Month, this service celebrated the work of three African American women musicians: Billie Holiday, Marian Anderson, and Aretha Franklin
“Mary in Three Religions” - Dec 24, 2017 When Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday, we used the service to tell the story of Mary in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
