EXAMPLES OF PUBLIC MINISTRY:

A note on Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Multiculturalism
In each year of ministry, there has been a persistent need to address issues of racism, xenophobia, and the cultural systems which assume white supremacy. This is work that is necessary and central to expressing core Unitarian Universalist values of equity and dignity. To that end, I have preached sermons, led book discussions, hosted film viewings, and helped to lead or arrange anti-bias training and community conversations on race. I have attended protests in Boston and supported months of stand-outs for Black Lives Matter in Wayland. I have designed, ordered, and hung anti-racism banners. I have written a local Land Acknowledgment, which other town leaders have asked to use. And, while there is more that I have done, it is more important that there is yet more to do along the path towards building a truly inclusive, equitable community. |
